Is this the Right Fit?
-
Yes. We work with couples and relationship systems across diverse identities, structures, and dynamics, including LGBTQ+ couples, consensual non-monogamy, polyamorous relationships, blended families, and other non-traditional partnerships.
Our approach is affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in respect for each person’s lived experience. The focus is not on fitting relationships into a mold but on helping partners improve communication, strengthen emotional safety, navigate conflict, and build healthier connection patterns.
-
That’s very common. Couples often enter therapy at different stages of readiness, emotional exhaustion, or hopefulness. One partner may be eager to work on the relationship, while the other feels uncertain, guarded, or skeptical.
Therapy creates space for both experiences without judgment. Progress does not require both people to start in the same place — it requires openness to understanding the patterns that affect the relationship. Often, increased clarity and communication help both partners become more engaged over time.
-
The therapist’s role is not to decide who is “right” or “wrong.” Couples therapy focuses on understanding the interactional patterns, emotional injuries, communication cycles, and unmet needs that contribute to conflict or disconnection.
Our goal is to support the relationship while honoring each individual’s perspective, emotional experience, and well-being. This creates a balanced space where both partners feel heard, respected, and accountable.
-
Yes. Couples therapy is confidential, and protecting your privacy is an important part of the therapeutic process. There are limited legal and ethical exceptions related to safety concerns, such as the risk of serious harm, abuse, neglect, or court orders.
At the beginning of therapy, confidentiality policies — including how communication between partners is handled — are clearly reviewed so everyone understands the process and expectations.
-
The length of couples therapy depends on the relationship's goals, the level of conflict or disconnection, and the complexity of the issues involved. Some couples seek short-term support for communication or life transitions, while others engage in deeper work addressing trust repair, trauma, intimacy concerns, addiction, or longstanding relationship patterns.
Therapy is collaborative and tailored to your needs. Some couples notice meaningful shifts within a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support to achieve lasting change.
